It’s not that we don’t believe in and appreciate the practice of gratitude. We do it every day! But what sometimes gets lost in gratitude is appreciation.

What’s the difference, you ask?

Here’s the official Webster definition for both:

grat·i·tude
noun
the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.

ap·pre·ci·a·tion

noun
the recognition and enjoyment of the good qualities of someone or something.

Gratitude is the quality of being thankful for something or someone while appreciation is the recognition given to someone (or something) for good and positive qualities.

“The greatest need of a human being is to be understood, validated, and appreciated.”
-Stephen Covey

Who do you appreciate? What is it that you admire and appreciate about them?

Reach out to someone today and let them know!

It might be their sense of humor, their supportive attitude, their helpfulness or myriad other qualities. Pick one and give them a shout-out!

Not only will you make their day, it will make yours as well!

“What you appreciate, appreciates.”

The grass is always greener where you water it, not on the other side of the fence.

Water your relationships with appreciation and watch them blossom and grow!

Not only are we grateful for you, we appreciate that you show up, you practice living your yoga and you are a valuable part of the TYS community!
