I took my first yoga class in 2008 as I was attempting to heal from a running injury. In fact, I saw yoga as little more than a way to maintain fitness until I could run again. But after I was cleared to run again, I found myself desiring to be back on my mat. The practice grew from being about exercising to maintaining deeper awareness of meditation and the body. While the physical benefits of yoga are readily apparent, the mental transformation it has on your life tends to sneak up on you!
I took my practice to the next level by becoming 200 RYT Certified in 2011 and I followed up my training with additional 9-month anatomy training under Leslie Kaminoff. I have a passion for understanding how the body works and for keeping my students healthy and safe during their asana practice.
Yoga asks us to challenge ourselves daily while simultaneously cultivating a deep self-compassion. For me, yoga is a disciplined physical practice that flows out of a rich meditation that moves us with intention and grace. My hope as a teacher is to share the richness and joy this practice has to offer us mentally, physically and spiritually.
My family is new to Lubbock, after 14 years in Austin, we decided to move closer to family. My husband and I have a one-year-old daughter and a miniature schnauzer who we consider our first child. I love being outdoors and spend as much time outside as the West Texas weather will allow!
