From the Owner and Director of The Yoga Stand:
The first time I landed on a yoga mat I was a junior in college. You’re never too young, right? It was love at first pose. When I graduated from college I moved on to the high-pressure world of finance and investments and after a few moves and a promotion or two landed in Fort Worth, Texas. I was searching for my yoga home and ran across Indigo Yoga and a teacher named Brooke Hamblet. This is where I realized yoga was more than just me on my mat, it was sharing my passion and knowledge with the world. I began my training in Baptiste yoga, attending Levels 1, 2 and 3 and becoming a certified Baptiste instructor. Now, this is where things get really good…
Teaching brought a new sense of purpose to my life and to my practice. When I see a student accomplish a pose that’s been challenging them for the first time, I feel like I’ve accomplished it with them. I love seeing and sharing the raw beauty of yoga — the sweat, tears, anger, joy and even despair. My student’s faces tell the story of their journey at that moment, that day or this lifetime. I gently reach out to steady someone in a twist and as they relax and sink deeper into the pose, I instantly feel connected and alive. It’s an intensity of feeling. I love to see them experience the joy of a handstand breakthrough and then watch them let the tears stream in half-pigeon. I love that teaching the students to let go of ego and take child’s pose when they need to is sometimes the hardest part of the lesson. As a teacher, I accept my students with all their insecurities and this allows me to accept myself. Teaching is a higher purpose. It’s servant leadership at its best.
I want to help anyone who wants to travel a path of growth and experience the unlimited possibilities as they achieve those goals. I want to bring the same training and experiences I’ve had to the dedicated students I know are searching for an outlet to inspire a higher purpose in their life. Teacher training is not just about how to teach yoga. Teacher training is about connection, leadership, service, and communication. It WILL change your life.
