I moved to Lubbock in 2012. From 2013 to 2016, I was in the biggest slump of my life; I lost all motivation and I was searching for meaning. It was a difficult period in which I developed terrible habits that kept me trapped in the vicious cycle that tends to characterize those times.
I have always been one to stay physically active whether it was playing basketball (my favorite sport), running, or working out, but I yearned for something new. I had an interest in potentially starting meditation and thought yoga would be a great start. During the latter part of 2016, I started my yoga journey.
When I began my practice, it was not very consistent. I probably practiced 4 times a month… maybe? I consider 2017 to be the year of my awakening, and coincidentally (or maybe not), my practice became more prominent in my day to day life. Between 12 to 16 months in, I wanted to find a yoga studio to call home. That search, eventually, led me to meeting Haley and The Yoga Stand.
Through yoga and the Teacher Training I’ve taken here at The Yoga Stand, I began (and continue) the work of introspection, deconstruction, reconstruction, and faith building. As a teacher, I want to share the tools I have gathered for others to do their own internal work if they so choose. I want to be there for others the way The Yoga Stand has been there for me. My goal is to spread positive energy as a teacher and a student and hopefully, I can contribute to the growth of our awesome community along with its longevity. I’m grateful for the opportunity!
