I dabbled in yoga throughout college in Houston and years after in Austin where I lived as I completed a Masters degree. When I moved back to Houston in 2013, I found that I needed to feel a part of something bigger than the 50-hour work week. Yoga became an outlet for community and for recreating a relationship with myself and my body. After years of recovering from an eating disorder throughout high school and college, I learned through my 200-hr teacher training in Houston that my path to full recovery required that I let go of shame and embrace all aspects of my story, messiness and all in order to create something big for myself in my life.
Yoga, both the practice and my teaching, has completely broken open my life. I continue to be humbled by all that I learn about myself along the way. My intention with my teaching is to allow students to generate a new relationship to who they are, one that is independent of external achievements and failures. Yoga is about honing tools that help each of us get under the many layers of armor so that we can get present to who we are and what we are committed to offering to the world.
I moved to Lubbock in the summer of 2018 to start medical school at TTUHSC. I live with my husband who is a year ahead of me in medical school and our 3-year-old Australian Sheppard named Loki. When I am not in studying or doing yoga, I really enjoy long distance running, listening to podcasts, and cooking!
